"Everyone says Hufflepuff are a lot o' duffers,"

—Wizarding opinion of the House

Since the very beginning of Pottermore, the Sorting Hat concluded that I am in Hufflepuff.

At first, I was disappointed. I swear almost every person that is a fan of Harry Potter wants to be in either Gryffindor or Slytherin. And I was a big Gryffindor-wannabe. I was devastated that I wasn't like Hermione, Harry, Ron or Ginny but obviously, I could see why. I'm not overly confident, I'm indecisive and I most definitely lack a huuuuuge amount of bravery for starters.

And yet, Gryffindor remains as the coveted house of Hogwarts.

In my opinion, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are really left out of the main storyline. I mean, I understand that Harry Potter focuses on Harry, and Harry is in Gryffindor. Yes. But Hufflepuff especially has almost no role at all.

Don't judge me, I have read all the books and seen all the movies so I DO know the whole storyline (although it has been a while).

While wallowing in sadness about being classed as a Hufflepuff, I decided to embrace it. After all, I get to stand out and in reality, it is an accurate assessment of me and my quiet personality.

According to the Harry Potter wikia,

"Hufflepuffs value hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members. The emblematic animal is a badger, and yellow and black are its colours. The Head of Hufflepuff is Pomona Sprout and the Fat Friar is the House's patron ghost.

Hufflepuff corresponds roughly to the element of earth, and it is for that reason that the House colours were chosen: yellow represented wheat, while black was emblematic of soil. The Hufflepuff points hourglass contains yellow diamonds. Students sorted into Hufflepuff often demonstrate exceptional abilities in Herbology, owing to their correspondence to earth.

Hufflepuff has produced the fewest number of dark wizards than any other house at Hogwarts. Their cheerful and friendly demeanour can probably account for this property of the House. Hufflepuff firmly demonstrated its loyalty during the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, when they were second only to Harry Potter's own house of Gryffindor in the number of students willing to stay and fight against Voldemort and his forces in the defence of their school."

A few downplayed but amazing characters from the Harry Potter universe were also from Hufflepuff! Newt Scamander; Nymphadora Tonks; Cedric Diggory and Teddy Lupin to name my favourites.

"You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true, And unafraid of toil"

—The Sorting Hat

Although I might not have a real aptitude for gardening or 'herbology', to be sorted into Hufflepuff is special. To be surrounded by friendly, loyal, hard-working and honest people would be inspiring and it would be an honour.

Cheers to all my fellow Hufflepuffs!

I've added some photos I took at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London a few years ago, and it was absolutely magnificent. It was almost like being at Hogwarts with all the props, costumes and sets there (but the myriad tourists did offset that feeling...). It was actually amazing, I enjoyed it so much. I 220% recommend.

Thanks for reading :)

All the love N <3

P.S. LONDON IS BEAUTIFUL
