~ Whether you’re visiting for work or escaping from work, this Melbourne itinerary is for you ~

Day 1

8AM

So, say you’ve arrived early, and are desperately hungry for some real, pretty much anything but airplane food. Once you get a taxi or train to Melb, set your GPS to Matcha Mylkbar. It is the perfect breakfast spot to enjoy amazing plant-based food, matcha inspired food and aesthetic goodness.

10AM

When you’ve finished a delectable breakfast, take a walk to some of the best landmarks that Melbourne has to offer. Walk to Federation Square and around the streets to stretch out your legs. On the other hand, just jump on a city circle tram and get a quick and easy tour of the city. It’s free!

After your tour of the city, head to Chapel Street for some retail therapy. It’s the street to be for amazing deals, new fashion labels and perhaps some thrift store goodness. Head for lunch at the Oscar Cooper restaurant nearby when hunger strikes.

2PM

When in Melbourne, you must visit the best street art in all of ‘Straya. The best laneway art can be found on Hosier Lane and Degraves Street, so give yourself plenty of time to take the most aesthetic Instagram snaps and to explore every possible city alleyway.

5PM

Grab a bite from one of the many local cafes in the alleyways, then make your way to the Transit Rooftop bar which offers a stunning view of the Melbourne skyscrapers, and has cocktails and drinks to last the night.

Day 2

10AM

After your inevitable sleep in due to last night’s shenanigans, have a brunch at Baby Coffee Co., an adorable newly opened café filled to the brim with delicious food and pink décor. We recommend the avo pesto toast and a cappuccino, and maybe even a mimosa if your hangover isn’t too bad.

12PM

Next, our 48-hour adventure is in need of some culture to make this a wholesome trip. A visit to the La Trobe reading room in the State Library of Victoria as well as the National Gallery of Victoria should satisfy this criterion very well.

3PM

After your culturally saturating visit to the art gallery and the library, walk through the beautiful botanic gardens to find yourself standing in front of a quaint, colonial-looking building. This is the Kettle Black café, a perfect location for an afternoon snack.

5PM

From the Kettle Black café, walk along the river to the Southbank to explore the sights and even pop in to see the Melbourne skyline from the Eureka Skydeck for an unparalleled view.

For your final stop in Melbourne, have dinner and drinks at Ponyfish Island. This bar is located right on the river and is a magical place to finish your trip in Australia’s most loved capital.

I'm dying to go to Melbourne for a few days, but my bank account says otherwise (and so do my impending exams). I mean, I've planned it all out for myself, so I'm already half way there, right? One day! [ maybe I'll update the photos to my own ones after I visit? :) ]
