The craziness of grade 12 is over! It has been an absolute roller coaster since I walked through the white picket fence for the first time and out for the last. Myriad memories I now have will be with me forever and I will always cherish them.

Now, when I said roller coaster I wasn't joking. I know it's not the real deal (5 assignments due at the same time, 4 exams in the same week), but in the moment it was tough. I lost so much sleep, staying up late because I may have left something until the last minute :), and my mental health and self-confidence were not the best, stressing what to do about university and beyond.

Here I have compiled a small list of things to keep me and you happy and healthy - inside and out!

Sleep

Sleep is THE best thing for you! Aiming for about 7-8 hours every night will leave you feeling refreshed and energised the next day. It's also super important to keep a regular sleeping schedule: going to bed and getting up at the same times every day. I'm saying this from my own experience because sleep is truly amazing

Exercise and moving

Moving and getting the blood pumping is the best way to get out of a slump. No need for caffeine, just don your nikes and off you go. The cool breeze will clear your mind as you focus on yourself in the moment

Wind down internet free

This point will help with number 1. Going internet free for a little while is hard, but so very worth it for a number of reasons. The light from electronic screens is detrimental for your eyes, so taking a break from them at least once in a while is beneficial for sleep and overall eye health. The internet, especially social media can sometimes be overwhelming and may overpower us with negativity or doubts, depending on how far down you scroll on facebook. Giving yourself a mental reset from the endless internet can definitely do wonders.

Lemon water

There's no better start to the day than a cup of water with a slice of lemon. You're awake in no time!

Reading

Super relaxing and enjoyable. I love reading and at the moment I have an ambitiously large list of books I would like to devour.

Avocados

This is a personal favourite of mine. I absolutely love avocados! As a source of natural fats, it has an abundance of benefits for your body. So it's good for you plus it's delicious, especially with a sprinkle of salt mmmmmm

Write down things that trouble you

I sometimes open up a journal and just write the troubles down. It helps me clear my mind and it helps focus my thoughts if I'm feeling restless and helpless. This tip also works really well if you write just before bed, like a daily night-time ritual

Green tea

Green tea is an invigorating drink, with less caffeine! It's the staple of Japanese culture with its fresh aroma and rich cultural history in the country. Some benefits are weight loss and skin care related. I drink green tea on a daily basis since my mum is in love with it and has now passed it on to me! Whether it be a matcha latte, roasted green tea or just in its most loved form, it's refreshing to have just before bed

After writing about all these tips, I feel inspired and motivated to get moving, get mindful and to get ready for the best 3 months before university starts!

All the love xxoo
